The senior seer of Kancheepuram Sankara Mutt and the 69th Shankaracharya Guru, Jayendra Saraswathi breathed his last this morning in a private hospital at Kancheepuram. The 82-year old seer was rushed to a hospital near Kamakshi Amman temple on Wednesday after he complained of breathing problems.
The immediate reason behind his death is not ascertained yet, but he is believed to have been not keeping well for last few days.He succeeded as the 69th Shankaracharya of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam after Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Swamigal in 1994.
