A stock market, equity market or share market is the aggregation of buyers and sellers (a loose network of economic transactions, not a physical facility or discrete entity) of stocks (also called shares), which represent ownership claims on businesses; these may include securities listed on a public stock exchange as well as those only traded privately. Examples of the latter include shares of private companies which are sold to investors through equity crowdfunding platforms. Stock exchanges list shares of common equity as well as other security types, e.g. corporate bonds and convertible bonds.

For over 12
hours, a Twitter storm has been blowing as netizens have come together to pray
for Contractor Neasamani, a character played by comedian Vadivelu in the 2001
Tamil movie Friends. But fast asleep through this hilarious social media
exchange in Theni district was the actor himself, who was flabbergasted when
told about how this scene from two decades ago has become the subject of India's
number one Twitter trend.
Speaking to
TNM on Thursday morning, a surprised Vadivelu says, "I have no idea what
is happening. I haven't seen anything yet."
When informed
of the internet circus around his character Neasamani, Vadivelu breaks into
amused laughter, barely able to contain himself.
"What? It
has become famous across the world? Oh god. It has gone to America and
everywhere? Thank you," he says, addressing his fans now. "Yes, the
movie was with Vijay and Suriya.I have
acted in a lot of movies and made the whole world laugh. But I didn't know
about this," he adds.
"This
entire trend is a victory given by God, a victory for the movie's director
Siddique and the victory for the people who enjoy my comedy," Vadivelu tells
TNM.
The actor
further told Tamil channel Puthiya Thalaimurai that characters like Neasmani
were a god-given gift to his career.

trended after a Pakistan-based meme page Civil Engineering Learners posed a
question, “What is the name of the tool in your country?” by posting a photo of
a hammer.
A Vadivelu fan
was quick to connect the hammer with a scene from Friends, in which Contractor
Neasamani ends up with an injury because one of his inept assistants (Ramesh
Kanna) drops a hammer on his head after failing to follow the simplest of
instructions. The humour in the scene is accentuated by the poker-faced
expressions of Vijay and Suriya, who play second fiddle to Vadivelu.
After the user
connected the hammer to Neasamani, another Tamil Facebook user, mockingly
wrote, “Is he ok?” Now these two decided to rib the entire Facebook culture of
praying for someone with #Pray_for_Neasamani which later snowballed into a
major Twitter trend with memes and funny responses.
Following
this, even journalists and politicians joined the joke and began to add more
satirical tweets to the growing trend. Brands too joined in, making Neasamani
ads, the latest being Sony Music which has released a special collection of
songs for 'Pray for Neasamani'.
Even
Manushyaputhiran, a poet and DMK supporter joined the trend, penning a poem for
the contractor, who he says, passed away after being in a coma. Linking the
Twitter trend to the ongoing political scenario, Manushiyaputiran pointed out
that on a day that the PM was being sworn in, the death of Neasamani was seen
as a sign of misfortune. Taking a dig at the BJP, the poet adds that nobody is
really bothered because bad things happened even when people were promised that
'Good days will come'.
Several social
media users pointed out that the entire phenomenon was actually a tribute to
actor Vadivelu's evergreen comedy scenes. He has acted in over 100 films in
Tamil cinema and received several awards for his comic timing and ability to
make members of all age groups laugh. From 2012 however, he slowly began to
reduce the number of film he acted in and was last seen in the Tamil movie
Mersal in 2017.
But today, as
#Pray_for_Neasamani evokes mirth across the world, Vadivelu wants to join the laughter.
"Send me
the memes on Whatsapp," he says, before signing off.

Director
Selvaraghavan is back with a political film after a long time with Suriya's NGK
and the film revolves around Nandha Gopala Kumaran's (NGK) rise to power among
the ranks of his party. But this journey looks more like a confused take on
modern-day politics. In ways more than one, the film takes the middle ground in
a lot of issues. While taking a middle ground is a perspective by itself, there
is a lack of clarity.Lots of it, especially in the later half.
For instance,
The film opens with NGK involved in Organic farming. Why and what happens after
that is a question mark? There is a subplot involving Geetham (Sai Pallavi) and
Vaanathi (Rakul Preet Singh), and NGK has to choose his partner between the
two. He wants youngsters to come into politics but keeps taking advice from an
elderly person, Giri (Bala Singh) who looks like a caricature of MGR. In short,
the film by itself is perplexed about what it wants to say, or rather how it
wants to convey what it wants to. This confusion extends to the technical
aspects as well.
Sivakumar
Vijayan's cinematography reminds us of his work in Kolamaavu Kokila, partially
due to the combination of neon lighting and warm colours used. However, it
looks totally out of place and doesn't complement the story. Yuvan's background
score is good in parts. When the film is picking up pace, we are suddenly
presented with a song that is not just a speed breaker, but a spike strip. Few
scenes in the second half lack the purpose and adds confusion, eg. the scene
where Suriya and Bala Singh rehearse speech for the next day party meeting.
Along with
Yuvan's background score, Suriya's portrayal of NGK is astounding and the
eccentricity of the character comes across well. But why is he eccentric is a
question unanswered. On the other hand, Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh's
characterization by Selva is beautiful. He doesn't treat them like dolls, and
they both get moments that it's about them rather than the hero. The film
treats its women so well that among a group of henchmen, there are a few women
who fight equally well. Writing such characters have been Selva's forte and that
is also one of the reasons why the film fails to engage you.
The film is
highly predictable and has no new elements. There are issues with the
screenplay to an extent that while leaving the screen, you still have doubts on
why specific scenes existed. At times, the expression of the actors in the
background crowd gives you strong hints about what is about to happen next.
The plot here
is wafer-thin, and Selva keeps mounting more tension on it till a point where
it crumbles. That's what lets NGK down. A more trimmed film, with a tighter
screenplay and novelties, would have made NGK far better than what it is.

Day after the
death of father-in-law Veeru Devgan, actor Kajol was seen at the Lilavati
hospital to meet her mother, actor Tanuja. The veteran actor is not well and is
undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Kajol was seen
visiting her mother on Tuesday night. The details of Tanuja’s illness are yet
to be known.
Tanuja is a
popular Bollywood actor (who has also worked in few Bengali films) and hails
from a prominent film family. She is the daughter of actor Shobhna Samarth and
producer Kumarsen Samarth. She was married to filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee but the
two had parted ways long ago before his death in 2008. She is the sister of
late actor Nutan and aunt of filmmaker Ayan Mukerji. Her most popular Hindi
films include Jewel Thief, Haathi Mere Saathi, Do Chore, Izzat, Prem Rog, Death
In the Gunj and many others. Among her well known Bengali films are Shonar
Pahar, Andha Bichar, Anubhav and others. Besides Kajol, Tanuja is also the mother
of actor Tanishaa Mukerji.
A day before,
husband Ajay Devgn’s father and stunt master Veeru Devgn had died of a
prolonged illness. Several Bollywood celebrities including Ayan, Abhishek
Bachchan-Aishwarya Rai, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, brothers
Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor (who came with father and
producer Boney Kapoor), Raza Murad and Suniel Shetty had paid their last
respects to the late action master.
Veeru was
suffering from breathing problems and was rushed to Surya Hospital in Santa
Cruz. But his condition worsened and suffered a cardiac arrest. Kajol had
broken down in the arms of Aishwarya as the latter consoled her during her last
rites. Ajay was seen lending a shoulder to his father’s mortal remains ahead of
the funeral.

On Wednesday, a hashtag called #Pray_for_Neasamani was
trending worldwide. Tamilians flooded the Twitter with tweets, prayers, and
memes for their beloved painting contractor Neasamani, played by comedian
Vadivelu, from the 2001 Tamil film Friends! In a scene from the film, Neasamani
gets hit by a hammer, when one of his employees drops it on his head.
Meme makers had a field day as they came up with some
hilarious and ingenious posts about the Neasamani tragedy. Memes of US
President Trump expressing his concern over Neasamani, Thor being held as the
suspect and Apollo Hospital revealing the current condition of Neasamani stole
the show.
It is said that the following Twitter thread lead to the
start of the whole laugh riot on Twitter.
When a Twitter user poster a picture of a hammer with the
question 'what is the name of this Tool in your country?', two Tamil cinema
fans came up with sarcastic replies that snowballed into the huge social media
sensation.
Played by Vadivelu, Neasamani is a painting contractor from
the film Friends, directed by Siddique. In the film, Neasamani and his team of
painters work in a palace to give a facelift to the building. But two of his
apprentices played by Vijay and Suriya bring him trouble and jeopardise the
whole contract.
The comedy-drama has stood the test of time and it still
brings out laughter from Tamil audience. Actor Vadivelu was in his prime during
the release of the film. The actor is currently missing from action. He was
last seen in Vijay's Mersal, but the comedy actor has been taking only very few
films for the past few years.
