espite getting negative reviews, Saamy Square, Vikram's sequel to the 2003 blockbuster hit film Saamy has collected a decent amount on its opening day.
According to reports, the film has collected about 64 lakh in Chennai alone. Trade analysts claim that this is a very good number, despite the reviews.
Overall in Tamil Nadu, the film has earned about Rs 6.5 crore. However, it has failed to beat the opening day collection of Sivakarthikeyan's Seema Raja, which raked in Rs 10 crore on Day 1.
Saamy Square follows the story of Raamsaamy, son of Aaaruchaamy, who avenges the death of his father and mother (played by Aishwarya Rajesh). The film also stars Keerthy Suresh and Bobby Simha in lead roles.
The film has been panned for poor writing, bad VFX and for being formulaic. It is expected that the reviews will affect the box office performance of the film in coming days.
