In her short film career which spanned
for six years, Navneet Kaur majorly starred in Telugu movies as a heroine,
special dancer and supporting actress. Besides Tollywood, she featured in a
couple of Punjabi and Tamil flicks including one each in Hindi, Malayalam and
Kannada. Highly popular for her alluring glamour and arresting screen-presence,
Navneet left films in 2011 and married Ravi Rana, an independent MLA from the Badnera
constituency in Amravati city.
Contesting the Lok Sabha Election for
the second time, the 34-year-old actress and Independent candidate trounced
Shiv Sena leader and two-time sitting MP Anandrao Adsul by a little over 36,000
votes.
In 2014, Navneet Rana contested the
election on an NCP ticket and lost to the same Adsul by 1.37 lakh votes.
However, she changed her strategy this time around and contested as a Yuva
Swabhimani Paksha (YSP) candidate, a political outfit formed by her husband
Ravi Rana. Her extensive campaigning and connect with the rural voters has
helped the talented lady to secure an edge over Shiv Sena's 71-year-old
warhorse.
Ms Rana is also the only candidate
from among the alliance partners of the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party
(NCP) who managed to emerge victorious in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
