Poonam Bajwa is an Indian actress, who predominantly appears in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu films. She has acted with Mammootty and Mohanlal in multiple films.A Punjabi by birth, she was born on 05.04.1989 in Mumbai to Amarjith Singh, a naval officer and Deepika Singh, a housewife. She has a younger sister, Daya. She was crowned Miss Pune in 2005 and after which she started modeling part-time while studying. When she went to Hyderabad for a ramp show, the director of Mudati spotted her and asked her if she was interested in films. She had finished her 12th then and had a five-month gap before college and hence agreed to star in his film. She pursued degree in Literature from SIMC, Pune.
