Vivek has
carved an image for himself as an outstanding comedian and has a number of hits
to his credit. The actor has got himself involved in many social service
activities, too, in a big way. He has declared himself as an ardent follower of
the former President of India, late Dr. Abdul Kalam and has taken up planting
of trees throughout the country as advised by Dr. Kalam. Vivek is known for his
dialogues that makes you laugh as well as think. He has courted controversies
too speaking dialogues with double meaning based on the situation in some
movies. He has however not taken those instances seriously.
Vivek did a
few movies taking on the lead roles after he had done enough films as a
comedian. Vivek’s mother, Maniammal who was living in Chennai suffered a heart
attack and passed away last night. She breathed her last at 12.30am. Her body
was carried to their native place Perungottur, near Sankarankoil. The
cremation, fixed for this morning at 10.30 am would have been conducted by now.
Many of Vivek’s friends and colleagues from within the Tamil film fraternity,
shocked to hear the passing away of his mother are expressing their
condolences.
Vivek had, in
his own style, fashioned himself after ole Tamil comedian and reformer
‘Kalaivanar’ N.S. Krishnan earning him the title ‘Junior Kalaivanar’. His
onscreen dialogues would address issues like superstition, political corruption
and other social ills. Stating his film career in 1990 as a junior artist, he
has risen to his current stature. Most of his roles in Tamil films have been as
a friend of the hero.
