Vijayakanth, is an Indian politician and former film actor. He was the Leader of the Opposition of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from 2011 to 2016. Prior to becoming a politician, he was a film actor in Tamil cinema from 1979 to 2018. He is the founder and leader of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam and served as a Member of Legislative Assembly representing the constituency of Rishivandiyam.
