Director Vetri Maaran's recently-released
Vada Chennai has been receiving unanimous response from the critics and
audiences. The gangster-drama stars Dhanush, Aishwarya Rajesh, Andrea Jeremiah,
Samuthirakani, Ameer and Kishore in important roles.
The film which released worldwide on
October 17 has opened to packed houses. According to trade experts, Vada
Chennai has earned Rs 82 lakhs in Chennai alone. This is considered to be a
record for the film which released on a weekday.
There might be an increase in box
office collection because of Dusshera weekend. Since there is a positive word
of mouth surrounding the film, it is said that the film will be declared a blockbuster
in the coming days.
Vada Chennai is doing extremely well
in India as well the international market. The film had premiere shows on
Tuesday (October 16) in the US. Reportedly, the film has grossed $48,840 (Rs 56
lakhs approximately) from the premiere shows.
Vetri Maaran's Vada Chennai traces the
life of Anbu (Dhanush), a national-level carom player. The film showcases the
rise of Anbu from being a timid boy to a leader fighting for his people.
