Sridevi Amma Yanger Ayyapan was one of two sisters while growing up in Sivakasi, Madras State, India, and she went on to gain two stepbrothers as well. Her sister was Srilatha, and along with their mother Rajeshwari, Srilatha used to accompany Sridevi to film sets from 1972 and 1993. Sridevi began her career in acting at the age of four. It seems Srilatha grew up to act as a supporter and confidante to her sibling. It’s thought Srilatha even operated the video camera when Sridevi shot her first videos of herself dancing and singing.The girls’ relationship started to diverge when Srilatha married cricketer Sanjay Ramaswamy in 1989. Then the girls sadly lost their dad in 1991 and their mother in 1996. And between the death of their parents, the sisters entered a bitter dispute – which ended up in court – over ownership of huge properties in Mumbai and Chennai. The sisters ended up not talking for over two decades because Sridevi had to give such a huge lump sum to her sister and her husband as compensation.
