Just a few days after the plight of former actor Savi Sidhu came to light, several celebrities including Rajkummar Rao and Anurag Kashyap had taken to social media to laud Sidhu for living his life with dignity. Singer Mika Singh, too, had taken to Twitter and urged his followers and friends from the industry to help him find his contact.
Almost a week after Mika's tweet, a report in Mumbai Mirror states that the singer has now offered Sidhu a role in his upcoming production, Aadat. Starring Karan Singh Grover and Bipasha Basu in lead roles, the film has been directed by Bhushan Patel and is just seven days away from competition. The singer, after urging Sidhu to leave his current job as security guard, has also offered him a job at his office and plans to help him establish his base as an acting coach.
Sidhu told the publication that after contacting him with an offer, Mika sent a car to take him to his house the next day and gave him some new clothes and food. He has been quoted as saying, "After a few days, I received a call from him, and I thought it was a prank. Mika was direct. 'You are not doing this job anymore, you are joining my group,' he told me. The next day, he sent me a car to take me to his house. He gave me some new clothes and food. I start working him in the next 10 days." Not just Mika, Savi revealed that even Nikkhil Advani has promised him work.
Sidhu, who has previously worked in films like Black Friday, Patiala House and Bewakoofiyaan, opened up about how he took up a job as a security guard after he stopped receiving work in the entertainment world in a Film Companion video story.
Mika, meanwhile, told the publication that he found it odd that an actor of his caliber "had to take up the job of a watchman for Rs 9000 a month". He has further been quoted as saying, "Being a Punjabi and from the same fraternity as him, I wanted to help. It was surprising that no one was offering him work, even a small role would surely be better than a watchman's job."
Besides asking writer Vikram Bhatt to create a character for him in Aadat, Mika said that he's also recommended Sidhu for other roles and also plans to "help him find work as an acting coach." Meanwhile, Sidhu is waiting to hear from the filmmaker about the said film.
His story evoked several social media reactions including that of Mika, who had written that it's difficult to understand the film industry sometimes adding that he doesn't know him personally but would want to help.
