Veteran actress Kusalakumari, who is known for the film
Koondukili, passed away on Wednesday. The actress was suffering from
age-related issues. She was 83.
Kusalakumari was paired opposite actor Sivaji Ganesan in the
film Koondukili. It was the only film in Tamil which had both Sivaji and MGR.
However, the film turned out to be a box office failure.
The veteran actress also acted opposite superstars like A
Nageshwara Rao and Prem Nazir. She is known for her role in films like
Parasakthi, Konjum Salangai, and Harichandra.
Kusalakumari chose not to enter the wedlock and was living
with her brother till her death. When former CM of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa
came to know that Kusalakumari was suffering from poverty, the leader
sanctioned a pension of Rs 5000 every month for Kusalakumari.
