A young
engineer who hails from Gobichettipalayam in Tamil Nadu created a stir
yesterday at the Chennai residence of TV actress Rithika. He was reportedly on
his way to Goa from Chennai. But he missed his flight and somehow reached the
actress’ house in Vadapalani. He started knocking the door and ringing the
doorbell. The actress was not at home. Her father Subramani, opened the door and
to his utter shock, this unknown youngster, Bharat, started telling him that he
has fallen in love with Rithika and that should be permitted to marry her. The
father was in no way amused by this and asked the young man to leave his house.
In the arguments that followed the noise levels brought the neighbours came to
see what was happening.
As per a
report in Tamil daily ‘Daily Thanthi’, the Vadapalani police was informed and
the patrolling unit nearby picked up the youth and took him to the station for
enquiries. Bharat’s parents were summoned. They informed that the boy was
undergoing some kind of mental pressure and he acts weird sometimes. Police
allowed the boy to go after issuing a warning.
Rithika, who
has been acting in TV serials, in one of the Tamil channels, did not press any
charges against Bharat. She has acted in the serial, ‘Raja Rani’ and was
possibly at a shoot when the incident occurred. The odd aspect of the whole
story would be how Bharat got hold of the actress’ address. He claims he is not
a resident of Chennai. She lives in a high-rise apartment block in the
Vadapalani area. Why and how did he miss his flight to Goa? Since no case has
been registered, one may never come to know the answers to these. The incident
itself may be a pointer to the kind of popularity TV serials enjoy in the
state.
