Manjeri (Malappuram): Actress Noorin Shereef was injured
after a crowd attempted to manhandle her during the inauguration of a
supermarket here the other day. Amid the clashes, Noorin sustained injuries on
her nose. Following this, Noorin had to attend the event and address the
gathering with a painful nose.
Noorin’s mother told mathrubhumi.com that the organisers had
said the event was at 4 pm. Noorin and her mother arrived at a hotel in Manjeri
by 4 pm. But the organisers asked them to wait at the hotel till 6 pm in order
to gather more audience. Later, when Noorin arrived at the venue, the people
turned aggressive.
The crowd surrounded the actress and her aides and started
hitting on the car when she arrived. Meanwhile, somebody’s hand hit Noorin’s
nose. Her mother said that Noorin had a minor bruise inside the nose following
this. The people started shouting abusive words alleging her late arrival.

Gaekwad (born 12 December 1950), popularly known by his mononymous stage name
Rajinikanth, is an Indian film actor who works primarily in Tamil cinema. He
began acting in plays while working in the Bangalore Transport Service as a bus
conductor. In 1973, he joined the Madras Film Institute to pursue a diploma in
acting. Following his debut in K. Balachander's 1975 Tamil drama Apoorva
Raagangal, his acting career commenced with a brief phase of portraying
antagonistic characters in Tamil films.
After earning ₹26 crore (equivalent to ₹59 crore or US$8.5 million in 2018) for
his role in Sivaji (2007), he became the highest-paid actor in Asia after
Jackie Chan at the time. He has worked in other regional film industries of
India and has also appeared in the cinemas of other nations, including that of
the United States. As of 2019, Rajinikanth has won six Tamil Nadu State Film
Awards—four Best Actor Awards and two Special Awards for Best Actor—and a
Filmfare Best Tamil Actor Award. In addition to acting, he has also worked as a
producer and screenwriter. Apart from his film career, he is also a
philanthropist, spiritualist, and serves as an influence in Dravidian politics.

While Bigil is
receiving a massive response from the audience, Vijay has received a bomb
threat. According to media reports, the state police control room received a
call from an unknown person.
Vijay is
currently basking in the success of his recently released film, Bigil. The
film, which is directed by Atlee is minting huge numbers at the box office in
the domestic as well as international markets. Bigil has entered Rs 100 crore
club within a few days of its release and is continuing its strong run at the ticket
windows. While the film is receiving a massive response by the audience all
over, Vijay has received a bomb threat.
According to
media reports, the state police control room received a call from an unknown
person saying that a bomb was set in Vijay's residence. Soon after the
officials received the bomb threat call, police forces reached Vijay's
residence at Saligramam, Chennai. The police officials enquired Vijay's father
over the same and tightened the security. The investigation has begun and a case
has been filed under cybercrime. As per police reports, the call was made by a
youngster from Chennai but is yet to confirm if its the same person.
Bigil also
features Jackie Shroff, Nayanthara, Kathir, Yogi Babu and Vivek in crucial
roles. Well, this is for the third time that Vijay and Atlee are collaborating
for a film after Theri and Mersal.
Bigil sees
Vijay in dual roles, as a father and a son. As shown in the trailer, he plays
the coach of a women's football team as the son. The much-awaited film has
released to around 4200 screens all over the world.

mimicry artist and actor Mano passed away in a tragic accident on October 28 in
Chennai. He and his wife, were driving their car when the accident occurred.
Their car lost control and hit the median where Mano suffered serious injuries
and died on the spot.
His wife was
rushed to Ramachandra hospital in the city where she is kept in the Intensive
Care Unit (ICU). Doctors, who treated her stated that she is still in a
critical stage. Mano and his wife are proud parents of a seven-year-old girl
child.
The untimely
death of Mano came as a shock to his friends and colleague in the industry.
Public Relations Officer John took to Twitter and gave away the details of the
accident. He wrote, "Multi talented actor #Mano Died in an Accident near
Avadi. His wife is in Ramachandra Hospital ICU. She is under treatment.

Mano acted as
one of the leads in Tamil film Puzhal along with Murali and Emachandran. The
film, directed by Azhagu, released in 2010.
The actor
started his career as a host on a popular television channel. He also went on
to be a part of several reality shows where he displayed his mimicry and
dancing skills. Mano is known as a great mimicry artist and did stage shows
across the globe.

The film
business in Tamil Nadu has undergone a shift this year. With the box office
success of Vijay’s Bigil and Karthi’s Kaithi this Deepavali, the industry is
awaiting a new phase in which major festivals such as Pongal, Tamil New Year’s
Day, Deepavali, Ayudha Pooja and Christmas witness films of two stars clashing
at the box office instead of allowing one to have a free run, as was the norm.
The trend was
set in motion when Sathyajyothi Films, producer of actor Ajith Kumar’s
Viswasam, decided to go ahead with the release on Pongal day despite actor
Rajinikanth’s Petta, produced by Sun Pictures, releasing that day. Both films
shared the 850 screens across the State.
The success of
the two films removed the fear that one big film would eat into the box office
collections of the other.
Stating that
distributors and theatre owners have always preferred a double release to a
saturated one-film release, Tiruppur Subramaniam, well known distributor and
financier, said, “We have been telling producers to release two films every big
festival. With Bigil and Kaithi, both are doing well and Kaithi is getting more
shows in multiplexes. Even today, if a film is good, it will do well. Though
Kaithi released in less number of screens, the audience will come since it has
received phenomenal word-of-mouth reviews.”
Releasing two
films with big stars during a festival is actually beneficial to both films,
argues S.R. Prabhu, producer, Kaithi.
“The attention
of the audience turned towards Kaithi because of the competition. My point is:
we are going to compete with some film anyway. We took a call based on all
factors at that time: did we want to compete in a lightweight competition or in
a heavyweight fight,” Mr. Prabhu said, adding, “we did not start this — it
started with Pongal.”

Vijay starrer
Bigil has turned out to be the biggest release this Diwali. The film has
already collected Rs 75 crore in Tamil Nadu and is inching towards the 100
crore mark and the fact that there are no big releases this week will add to
its advantage, according to trade analyst Kaushik LM.
He tweeted,
“#Bigil storms past the 75+ CR gross mark in TN & is the #3 grosser in TN
this year after just 4 days 🙏Has
crossed the star’s 2016 BB #Theri’s lifetime TN gross already👌 Racing towards TN century this coming
weekdays 👍.”
Helmed by
Atlee, who earlier directed Vijay in Theri and Mersal, Bigil is a sports action
drama that has the actor in dual roles. Nayanthara is sharing screen space with
Vijay after a gap of almost 10 years. They were last seen together in Villu (2009).
Jackie Shroff, Kathir, Vivek, Anandaraj, Yogi Babu and Daniel Balaji among
others are part of the supporting cast.
The film was
released on October 25 alongside actor Karthi’s Kaithi. Both films opened to
good reviews and are holding their own at the box office.

As rescuers in
Trichy pull out all the stops to save a two-year-old boy trapped in a borewell
in Tamil Nadu’s Trichy, celluloid superstar Rajinikanth said Sunday that he was
praying for the child’s safety.
“I pray for
Surjith’s comeback. Parents should be careful in the safety of their children.
We cannot blame goverment officers for this,” Rajinikanth said while his fans
in Chennai to wish them on Diwali.
Surjith Wilson
fell into an abandoned borewell late Friday while playing. Rescuers have made
10 attempts so far to pull him out but they have proved futile.
Actor-turned
politician Kamal Haasan took to Twitter to express his hope that Surjith could
be saved. He also said that keeping the borewells open should be considered a
crime.
Former India
cricketer Harbhajan Singh said Surjit’s rescue will be a real Diwali for all.
“As I father I could feel the pain of Surjith’s father” he tweeted in Tamil.
Surjith’s
condition has touched an emotional chord among the people in Tamil Nadu with
special prayers are being conducted in temples, mosques, and churches across
the state for his safety.
Rescuers are
using a boring machine to dig a parallel well to reach the child who is believed
to be a depth of about 90 feet. Rocks have slowed down the drilling operations
for now,
