The audio clip, which is doing the
rounds on YouTube, claims to be a conversation between Poonam and another
person, where she makes several allegations against actor-politician Pawan
Kalyan.
Actor Poonam Kaur on Tuesday filed a
complaint with the cyber crime wing of the Hyderabad police, alleging that a
doctored audio conversation of her talking about actor-politician and Jana Sena
Party chief Pawan Kalyan was circulated on YouTube and other social media platforms.
Alleging that the audio was aimed at
maligning her, she accused unidentified people of attempting to draw political
mileage from it. The audio clip, which is doing the rounds on YouTube, claims
to be a conversation between Poonam and another person, where she makes several
allegations against the actor-politician.
Speaking to reporters, Poonam said, “I
do not know who is behind this. I complained to the police about the online
harassment I was facing for the last two years and requested them to take action.
I wish that no woman should undergo what I went through in the last two years.
It was done by some people just for some political agenda, and spoiling a
woman’s life in the wake is a mistake. I have full trust in the police that
they will take necessary action.”
She added, "I hope the YouTube
links that say ‘leaked audio’ and ‘shocking audio’ and have my name on it, are
taken down."
Poonam and her team are also learnt to
have submitted the names and handles of the accounts that were allegedly attempting
to defame her.
Police have sought legal advice,
following which a case will be registered and an investigation will be launched
into the matter.
Earlier this year, the Hyderabad
police had arrested a youth for posting obscene material on social media
against YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's sister YS Sharmila.
Sharmila, the daughter of former
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, had met Hyderabad Police
Commissioner Anjani Kumar on January 14, urging him to act against those maligning
her on the social media. She then lodged a complaint against the websites that
were posting false information about her on social media.
This came after reports linking
Sharmila to actor Prabhas surfaced. Sharmila had alleged that it was a conspiracy
by people with vested interests to defame her and get political mileage ahead
of the general elections.
