Kamal Haasan is an unparalleled genius and he has proved that time and again with his works.His 2015 film Uttama Villain was one such movie that was highly appreciated by the critics but failed to do well in the box office. The movie is centred around superstar Manoranjan who is in his final days after being diagnosed with a terminal cancer. Manoranjan before leaving the world wants to do a movie that will be etched in the memory of the audience eternally.

After screening in several international film festivals, Uttama Villain is now going west. The upcoming Hollywood movie The Hero, directed by Brett Haley has almost the same storyline as that of Uttama Villain. The core plot is believed to be inspired from the Kamal Haasan film. The Hero is written by written by Brett Haley and Marc Basch.

பல்வேறு சர்வதேச திரைப்பட விழாக்களில் பங்கேற்றதன் மூலம் உலக கலைஞர்களின் கவனத்தை பெற்றது பெற்றது  உத்தம வில்லன். இதில், தையம் என்னும் புது கலையையும் அறிமுகப் படுத்தி இருந்தார் கமல். பலதரப்பட்ட விமர்சனங்களில் பாராட்டை பெற்ற திரைப்படம் தற்போது ஹாலிவுட்டில் வருகிறது. ஹீரோ என்ற பெயரில் தயாராகி வரும்  ரீமேக்கை ஹாலிவுட் இயக்குனர் பிரெட் ஹெலி இயக்குகிறார். கமலின், கதையை அடிப்படையாக வைத்து இந்த படத்தின் திரைக்கதையை வடிவமைத்துள்ளனர்.
