Kattappava Kanom Movie Review | Kattappava Kanom Review | Sibiraj |Aishwarya Rajesh
Fantasy films are the type of genre which attracts all sets of Audience, right from the children to aged people. So far the Audience would have seen a dog or a cat in a fantasy film, but first time they are going to witness a fish through the fantasy – comedy film ‘KATTAPPAVA KAANOM’. Starring Sibiraj – Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead, the film ‘KATTAPPAVA KAANOM’ is directed by debutante Mani Seiyon (Associate of Director Arivazhagan) and produced by Madhusoodhanan Karthik, Shivakumar, Venkatesh and Lalith under the banner ‘Wind Chimes Media Entertainment’. The most expected ‘KATTAPPAVA KAANOM’ will be released on 17th March by Saravanan under the banner ‘Sri Green Productions’.
Chandini Tamilarasan, Kaali Venkat, Mime Gopi, Yogi Babu, Thirumurugan, Jayakumar, Livingston, Chitra Lakshmanan, ‘Daddy’ Saravanan, Baby Monekha and Sethu plays the pivotal roles in ‘KATTAPPAVAKAANOM’. The film is well tied up with a bunch of talented technicians that includes Cinematographer Anand Jeeva, Music Director Santhosh Dhayanidhi, Editor Sathish Surya, Art Director M Lakshmi Dev and lyricists Muthamil and Uma Devi.
The movie plot circulates around the fish. The fish named Kattappa and how it turns the fortune of the people it comes in contact with. It’s the story what happens when Kattappa goes missing from the house of a thug who owned it. However, many people trying to hold their hands on the fish which was supposed to bring luck to the one who possessed it, it’s a free for all at the end.
A fantasy comedy, thee movie was re-titled as Kattappava Kanom during June 2016, making reference to the popularity of the character Kattappa from Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) which is played by Sibiraj’s father Sathyaraj in ‘Baahubali’.
All through his life Pandian (Sibiraj) has been only waiting for lady luck to smile at him, his dad tells him that only a girl whose name begins with the letter ‘C’ will brighten his career. However, Pandian falls in love with Meena (Aishwarya Rajesh), a happy-go-lucky girl and eventually marries her. The couple struggles to lead a normal life as they are yet to be financially stable. That's when Pandian’s school friend 'Surprise' Sheela (Chandini) presents them a lucky fish (Kattappa).
The couple makes a secret wish in front of the fish that they want one crore but they end up in a huge trouble as three strangers (Thirumurugan, Jaya Kumar, Kaali Venkat) house arrests them to know about the secret shared by a deceased man, who had hidden 4 crores!! The strangers also propose a deal that the couple can get one crore if they reveal the place where the money is hidden.
Meanwhile, Kattapa's owner Vanjaram (Mime Gopi), a local gangster, appoints a detective Sankara (Saravanan) to find the whereabouts of his precious fish. The rest of the film is all about how Pandian solve all these issues!
As said earlier, the film’s biggest problem is the snail pace at which it moves and there is nothing even remotely intelligent in this film. The scenes involving the little girl (Monica) and her magician dad was totally unnecessary and is irritating. The only solace is  Kaali Venkat and his one-liners.
