சமூக வலைத்தளங்களில் பரபரப்பரபாக  பரவி வரும் ஒரு வீடியோவில் நடிகர் சூர்யாவுக்கு இஸ்லாமிய மதப்படியான  சடங்குகள் நடத்தபட்டு, வெள்ளை நிறத்திலான குல்லாவுடன்  அவர் தொழுகை செய்வது போன்ற காட்சிகளால் கோலிவுட்டில் பெரிய சர்ச்சை கிளம்பியுள்ளது. அவர் முஸ்லீமாக மாறிவிட்டார் என பல இணைய தளங்களில் செய்திகள் வெளியாகி வருகிறது. அவரது மனைவி ஜோதிகா முஸ்லீம் மதத்தை சேர்ந்தவர் என்பதால் இந்தசெய்தி உண்மை என அவரது ரசிகர்களும் நம்பி வந்தனர்.

இது முற்றிலும் தவறான செய்தி என்று மறுக்கும் அவரது தரப்பில் கூறப்படுவதாவது..,
கடந்த 2013 ஆம் ஆண்டு ‘சிங்கம் 2’ பட ஷூட்டிங்கின் போது ஆந்திர மாநிலம் கடப்பாவில் உள்ள ஒரு மசூதியில் ஏ.ஆர். ரகுமான் அழைப்பின் பேரில் சூர்யா பிராத்தனை செய்ததாகவும், ஏ.ஆர்.ரகுமானின் விருப்பப்படியே சூர்யா  அந்த மசூதிக்குச் சென்றார். மேலும் இந்த வீடியோ கிட்டத்தட்ட நான்கு வருடங்களுக்கு முன்னர் எடுக்கப்பட்டது. அதை இப்போது தவறாக பரப்பி வருவதாக கூறியுள்ள சூர்யா தரப்பு யூடியூபில் பதிவேற்றப்பட்ட அந்த வீடியோவிற்கு ஆட்சேபம் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டதால் யூடியூபில் இருந்து அந்த வீடியோ தற்போது நீக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

A video of actor Suriya praying at a mosque in a traditional Muslim attire has been doing rounds on social media and certain sections of the society started assuming that he was converting to the Islamic faith.I n the video, he is seen entering the mosque wearing a small cap and garlands around his neck. 

The video that was uploaded on YouTube has been going viral and is said to be fake. The media spokesperson for the actor said that the video was taken during a film shooting a few years ago in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, during the shoot of Singam 2  (2013) when music director AR Rahman had invited him to pray.

Suriya’s team took offence to the false propaganda, and the video was taken down. Actor Suriya is busy in shooting of his upcoming movie Thaana Serndha Koottam.
