Kamaraj (Kamaras ) in Tamil Nadu is one of the former Chief
Minister. In 1954, he became Chief Minister of Madars. He served as Chief
Minister of Tamil Nadu for nine years. He introduced a free lunch program for
school children in Tamil Nadu. Kamarasa is known for his simplicity and
honesty. He is known as the South Indian gandhi, the uneducated genius, the
king of the universe and the great lord. He is also known as “black Gandhi”.
After his death, the Government of India awarded him the Bharat Ratna Award in
1976. The Madurai University is the Madurai Kamaras University, and the Chennai
International Airport has been named for the domestic terminal.
